Saying Goodbye...

Today is the last day of the Sexy Siren Love/Sex blog...and all of our blogs actually. After 8 months of giving you my thoughts on dating, sharing stories with you, and answering questions, we have decided it's time to move on. Tear.

This goodbye actually reminds me of a relationship I was once in--he and I were good together. We had fun, good chemistry, and shared lots of laughs, but in the end, we just weren't headed in the same direction. So we had to go our separate ways. The good news is that now, we still consider each other friends.

Just Because Gift Guide

Sure it's great to get flowers for Valentine's Day, jewelry on your birthday, and an extravagant gift for the holidays, but honestly, I have to say that some of the best gifts I have ever gotten from a guy have been random.

When there's a holiday, you kind of expect to get a gift (and if you don't, then you're upset about it), but when there's absolutely no other reason for a guy to give you a little surprise other than the fact that he was thinking of you, then it just seems so much more special.

Creative Marriage Proposals

My friend George wants to take his girlfriend to the Bahamas and ask her to marry him. He's really excited about planning the engagement and has been running ideas by me all weekend, unfortunately, I think he's dead set on one that makes me nervous.

His plan is to take her out for a day at the beach and have her trip over a bottle with a message in it that says, "Will you marry me?"

Guys…lets get one thing straight. When you’re a teenager, in high school and even in college, it’s fine to let girls hit on you. Actually, I’m pretty sure a lot of young ladies like hitting on you because it makes them feel like they’re being strong, outspoken, independent women, BUT, as they get older, they also get over that notion.

Latino Viral Dating Video

A friend of mine sent around a link to a video she and some friends entered into a viral marketing competition. She's Asian, so they made a video called "How to Date an Asian Girl" and to make it funny, they pulled out every typical stereotype you could think of.

For the competition, you basically vote which video is your favorite out of 6 (all of them are about whatever) and the one with the most votes wins.

Last night my friends and I went to a Mad Men party at a friend’s house to grab a drink and catch up with people...and to meet guys.

And apparently every other woman invited to the party came for the same reason. Out of about 30 people, only 5 of them were men. So you can imagine that the only ladies who actually left with guys, were the ones who arrived with them (yeah, of the 5 guys, only 3 were actually single).

I hung out with my married friends today. They’re a great couple and they just had the most beautiful baby in the world. We talked about life, caught up on the latest happenings, and they told me it was their baby’s 6-month birthday.

“Happy Birthday,” I told their sweet daughter. “Wow, she’s half a year now.” Half a year…

Doesn’t that sound annoying?

Is Dating Outdated?

Remember first dates? Pre-social media? It used to be part of the whole courting process: A guy would ask for your number, call you a couple times, ask you out, then take you to dinner and a movie. In that entire two-week span, you would only know random tidbits about each other and whether you were attracted or not.

That’s why the first date used to decide if you would then progress to…the second date.

An Easy Way to be Healthy

A good friend of mine smokes, not everyday, but when he’s out drinking. He’s a social smoker.
And it really bothers me.
