Fandemonium host Mario Calderon is back and this time he’s got tips on how to make your 4th of July weekend sizzle. From music, to fireworks, to the most annoying thing someone can do at an Independence Day party, Mario knows the do’s and don’ts for 4th of July weekend.
SITV.COM: Right off the bat, what’s the best 4th of July party spot: beach party, house party, or BBQ in the park? Mario Calderon: House parties can be tricky. If you’ve got a big back yard and can have a lot of your friends there, you’re in like Flynn. If you’re living in the Bronx and have a little apartment…you might not want to invite too many people over. That’s why beach party is the way to go. You can invite as many people as you want, and if you’re doing it in Puerto Rico you can even drink beer on the beach, no problem. Plus, with beach parties you can grill all day long and dance until the sun comes up.
SITV.COM: OK, you’re invited to a 4th of July beach party – what are three things you must bring? MC: Choice beverage, a big package of hot dogs, and an iPod with speakers.
SITV.COM: Now, there’s a Fandemonium video of you pretending to be a reggaeton star, and since you just mentioned tunes, I have to ask – what’s the best music to play at an Independence Day bash? MC: You gotta have a nice mix. Like everything from Kid Rock’s “Sweet Home Alabama” to Will Smith’s “Summertime” to Marc Anthony. It’s important to have a good mix, without a doubt, and stuff that caters to the weather and the culture.
SITV.COM: Fireworks – still cool or overrated? MC: They’re cool…just as long as you’re not setting them off yourself. You can get burned or lose a finger or something.
SITV.COM: There’s another Fandemonium video where you keep getting interrupted by a foghorn. So, speaking of annoying things, what’s the most annoying thing a person can do at a 4th of July party? MC: Get overly drunk. Actually, get overly drunk and start shooting Roman Candles at people. That’s annoying!
SITV.COM: Finally, what’s your number 1 tip for having a hot 4th of July weekend? MC: Chicks at the party [laughs]. No, just kidding. My number 1 tip for a hot 4th of July weekend…less is more. Think about it.
