POSTED Monday, June 01, 2009 at 4:28 AM You know you’re a legend when your genes carry talent. Well, not only is Hernan Hernandez (damn, that’s like if my name was Jesus Jesusdez) from Los Tigres del Norte a legend in Latin music but he’s also producing the next batch of stars. His two boys—Raul Antonio and Mexia—are taking turns repping the Hernandez musical legacy.

SO it’s sad to hear all these rumors about the four-man group being no more. Every group has its breakout star (see Beyoncè/Destiny’s Child) and Anthony “Romeo” Santos is definitely Aventura’s money maker yet their journey isn’t over yet. According to People en Español, they’re working on their next album, The Last, which will incorporate reggaeton and salsa along with bachata.
Tags: POSTED Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at 12:30 AM Yes, this is a Latin music blog pero Latinos also dig other types of artists. We’re not all grinding to reggaeton or doing la quebradita. With that said, last night I checked out Hot 97FM’s “Who’s Next” concert series featuring Drake—the upstart MC with so much buzz he can “sell a blank disc.” I haven’t been this excited to see an artist since Little Brother (yep, I have backpacker tendencies) or Kanye West when he just dropped out of college. Tags: POSTED Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at 11:29 AM Don’t let the GQ garb fool you, Pitbull will knock you the F out! OK, OK I know this is like my tenth Pitbull post pero I couldn’t resist to post this footage of Pit punching an unruly fan. The illest part of this clip is how Pit snuffs dude and he doesn’t lose a step in his on-stage routine. Rapping, punching and then back to punching. Pit really lives up to his name. At least there’s one Cuban cat who can lay down a beat down (sorry Jose Canseco). Props to Monica H. for the clip via Twitter!
Tags: POSTED Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at 12:15 AM I’ve always wondered if Juelz Santana had Latino blood in him. Per his Wikipedia page it states he’s half-Dominican but it is a Wikipedia entry not the AP. Well, Juelz inched closer to his alleged Latin side by appearing in De La Ghetto’s “Lover (Remix)” video. The song is blah but I’ll give Juelz credit for jumping on a reggaeton song—even when the reggaeton craze is long gone. Read More
Tags: POSTED Thursday, May 21, 2009 at 10:55 PM Just in time for the Memorial Day weekend hip-hop’s favorite Cuban MC, Pitbull, is ready to serve your iPod or ride with free music. Click HERE and get his latest mixtape, S****in on the Industry for FREE. With a title like that it sounds like Pit, who’s never been your typical rapper, is completely tired of this shady ass music biz. He’s been an artist who’s been in situations where his marketing failed to showcase his true talents. Read More POSTED Thursday, May 21, 2009 at 1:24 AM Let’s face it if you’re a Colombian pop singer you’re never getting out of the immense shadows of Shakira and Juanes. With that said, Fonseca has done pretty good for himself considering he’s got two of the world’s musicians as compatriots. Well, on June 9th The Grammy Museum in L.A. is hosting an exclusive Q&A and performance by the Colombian star. The Latin Grammy-winning artist joins an all-star list of past musicians including Nas, Annie Lennox, Brian Wilson and Tom Morello. |
