POSTED Sunday, June 21, 2009 at 11:00 PM Model Latina Miami is sizzling! If you haven’t seen the top 15 ladies yet, take a gander here. Yes, they’re beautiful but they also have good, ahem, melons atop their shoulders. For example, look at Zuleyka—the half boricua, half brasilera bombshell. Pero, he called some of Latin music’s greatest artists his friends. He was in New York City during salsa’s heyday and more than likely was bending elbows with Willie Colon or at least Willie’s roadies. My dad was a man about town, the mayor of Sunset Park, Brooklyn, where I grew up. The most intriguing aspect for me was the video model in it. Her name is Sophia Marie and she’s a lovely Latina. Funny story, I actually met with Sophia during my days as an EIC of a men’s magazine. Even though Jigga’s kind of right, I’m still a sucker for Daddy Yankee’s “Que Tengo Que Hacer” and now he released a remix featuring Jowell y Randy. PS: Randy goes apes**t with the auto tune. After the DY clip check out the bumping Fania salsa-sampled “Wild Puerto Ricans” by DJ Deadeye featuring Tony Toca and Termanology. POSTED Sunday, June 14, 2009 at 11:20 PM Sí TV was waving the Puerto Rican flag this weekend in support of our beloved boricua hermanos y hermanas. Our gente were on location producing a show (y’all know soon enough) at Saturday’s 116th Street Festival in Manhattan, which is the pre-party to the big Puerto Rican Day Parade the following day. Check out the slideshow below where you’ll find Latin music superstar Don Omar and our very first Model Latina—Jessica Caban. POSTED Thursday, June 11, 2009 at 11:00 PM Lisa Lisa is a Latin music icon. She’s the most successful freestyle artist of all-time (yep I said it). With Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam she produced hit (“Can You Feel The Beat”) after hit (“Head to Toe”) after, well, you get the idea. Aside from her music career, LL also developed a healthy acting career—you remember Taina, you ‘member. Below I bring you a snippet of my interview with the beautiful (and childhood crush of many Latinos) Lisa Lisa. Read More |
