My friend Annalisa made a great point the last time I spoke to her. I complained that the guy I was seeing didn’t make me mad. He was thoughtful, sweet, attentive, and liked spending time with me. While chatting with a friend last week, we started talking about the qualities we look for in the person we’re dating and what requirements we have for a relationship.

My list went something like this:

-Laughter (Not only must he have a good sense of humor, but I hope we just laugh a lot when we’re together).

-Physical Chemistry: We have to be good “together”…know what I mean?

-Intellectual Stimulation: When the physical attraction is gone, we better be able to talk (and laugh, which is high priority on my list).

Did your mom stay home and raise you as a child? My mom didn't...because she had to work. That's just the way it was. And although I think the situation I grew up with (two working parents) is more common these days, I do find a lot of people who still say that they had a mom at home...or a dad, while growing up.

While holding a cup of coffee this morning, I thought just how bad it would suck to spill it on my white shirt. Not only would I look horrible for my meeting, but the coffee would burn and leave me smelling like it for the rest of the day (or until I had a chance to actually change).

But then it got me thinking, what if I were on a coffee date and actually spilled on the guy instead? THAT would suck. I’ve got to remember to order only cold, clear drinks when I’m with guys.

I’m learning a lot about Chicago right now. Just in the last two days I found out that the city’s name comes from a Native American word  “Chicagoo” which can mean wild, smell onion, everyone heads to the “beach front” on warm, sunny days, and there’s an area of the city called the Viagra Triangle.

I come back to the topic of Facebook and relationships A LOT. Only because it's so prevalent in our lives these days--you can find almost anything out about a person on social networking sites and see what's happening to them on a regular basis. But I think don't think that's helpful. It actually causes problems in dating.
